Gym and health tomorrow

Study for the 3D solids test.  What 2D flat shapes can make a triangle based pyramid and then a square based pyramid? What is the difference between a pyramid and prism?

The last two weeks have been a challenge to get back on good listening and working skills. During lessons, students are expected to sit, listen, share ideas by putting their hands up.  Too many warnings have been given before first break and several are getting 4-8 minutes of recess taken away. That is after a warning.  Please chat with your child on what they need to be doing.

We are writing captions to go with photographs. This is one of many text features non fiction books have that gives us real information.

Monday, Jan. 20

Good job, most students returned their math homework.

Continue to study 3D solids - name, # of faces, edges, and vertices, compare how they are the same for those properties as well as can they roll, stack, or slide.  Today we learned the 2D shapes that are needed to make 3D solids. Talk about that as well.

Math test Thursday - it'll have adding two digit numbers by digit numbers as well.

Music tomorrow.

Friday, Jan. 17

Thank you for all of your help with your child's speeches. I've never been so impressed with their speaking skills in front of the class.

We enjoyed our sundae party this afternoon. Photos will be coming in your email.

math pages due Monday for adding with regrouping. Please keep working with your child

Information about 3D solids is coming home today. Please review and discuss. Test will be next Thursday.

Thursday Jan. 16

we are following our instructions to make ice cream sundaes

math sheets  - both sides due Monday. We have done a lot with regrouping and learning our facts. Students are encouraged to do quick flash adding with playing cards

We continue to enjoy each others' presentations.  Please know that treats are not required.

Congrats on writing your "How to make a sundae" procedure.  Everyone did really well to make sure they followed the criteria we came up. Your child will be making their sundae, using their instructions Friday afternoon during our ice cream party from December.

Library books are due tomorrow.
